Indonesia memiliki beragam budaya dan bahasa serta tradisi. Semuanya ini merupakan kekayaan seni budaya yang sepatutnya dilestarikan oleh seluruh masyarakat Indonesia, termasuk para generasi bangsa. Dari segi bahasa sendiri Indonesia sudah memiliki ratusan lebih bahasa daerah yang digunakan oleh masing – masing etnis yang ada di tanah air seperti Bugis, Batak, Sunda , Jawa dan masih banyak lainya.

Namun masalahnya, apakah semua komponen bangsa ini sudah mengetahui beragam kekayaan bahasa yang ada tersebut ? Hal inilah yang yang mendorong Nasul, guru SMKN 8 (SMIK Padang ) menentukan ide lukisan berjudul “ Why Should I Care ?”. Alasannya karena belakangan ini ia mengamati para siswanya dan juga sebagian masyarakat kurang bahasa- bahasa yang ada di Indonesia bahkan di daerahnya sendiri.

Dengan goresan tangan menggunakan mix media di atas kanvas berukuran 195 cmx135 cm, ia mengeksplor berbagai aksara dalam unsur bahasa yang ada di nusantara ini. Melalui lukisannya, pria kelahiran Bukit Tinggi 6 Agustus 1962 ini berharap siswa-siswa atau generasi muda serta masyarakat Indonesia pada umumnya akan mengetahui bahwa sesungguhnya Indonesia memiliki banyak sekali bahasa serta mengenal aksara-aksara yang ada dalam unsur bahasa tersebut.

Dengan garapan yang begitu indah serta konsep yang tersusun sistematis, akhirnya menghantarkan karya tersebit masuk dalam 5 nominasi karya lukis terbaik dalam Lomba dan Pameran Karya Seni Lukis Guru pada Festival Seni Internasional (FSI) 2010 yang digelar Pusat Pengembangan dan Pemberdayaan Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan Seni dan Budaya (P4TK-SB) tanggal 2 hingga 6 Agustus 2010.

Masuknya karya dia dalam 5 nominasi karya terbaik, seperti dituturkannya merupakan satu hal yang menyenangkan sekaligus mengesankan.“ Saya berterima kasih pada P4TK, barangkali ajang kompetisi semacam ini perlu dilakukan secara berkala untuk mengapresiasi karya – karya guru,”katanya. Untuk diketahui alumnus Universitas Negeri Padang tahun 1990 ini mengaku telah sering melakukan kompetisi ajang serupa walau belum sampai masuk nominasi.

Baginya, momen ini akan dijadikan modal untuk memotivasi siswa agar selalu berkarya . Karena menurutnya motivasi tidak harus selalu dalam bentuk verbal tetapi dalam bentuk karya tak kalah pentingnya. (***

Anugrah teachers award pada perhelatan Festival Seni Internasional III (FSI) 2010 diserahkan tadi malam di auditorium PPPPTK-SB Sleman Yogyakarta oleh Dirjen PMPTK Kementrian Pendidikan Nasional (Kemendiknas) Prof. DR. Baedhowi, M.Si. Tiga tingkatan penghargaan masing-masing untuk guru seni pertunjukan, seni rupa (lukis) dang produk inovatif (kriya) diterima tadi malam oleh 15 orang guru.
